Cisco and the Cisco Learning Institute have created PLAN-IT toolkits for all audiences, particularly Academy instructors, students, Gender Initiative participants, and LDC Initiative participants. They support student and Academy success throughout the developing world.

Why Financial Sustainability?

The PLAN-IT Financial Sustainability Toolkit includes a series of planning tools designed to help educational institutions establish sustainable, financially independent Academies. The toolkit builds on traditional strategic planning exercises, business planning components learned from the Jian BizPlanBuilder business planning software, and the Academy program cost calculator.

The toolkit includes the following resources:

• Cost calculator to identify financial planning strategies
• Cost recovery solutions
• Strategies for evaluating current business practices and assessing future goals and needs

With the right planning and evaluation tools, Academies can evaluate their business and leadership practices, establish their own models for sustainability in a not-for-profit context, and cultivate strategic partnerships for development.
