Promoting the Gender Initiative

The ITC Initiative was formed with the goal of addressing the gender division that exists within the IT industry in many developing countries. When applying to host an Internet Training Center, all potential institutions must submit a detailed plan as to how they will facilitate female participation. Once selected, institutions must pursue a minimum of 30% female enrollment. The ITC initiative has also established gender-focused and women-only centers. Overall, the Initiative actively encourages the participation of female students as well as the training of female instructors.

The ITC Initiative is committed to ensuring that women have access to IT training and that they are encouraged to participate in the Internet Economy. Technology has become a powerful force in its ability to change and influence socioeconomic conditions. The ITC Initiative aims to ensure that women have access to that opportunity.
