Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(2)XH

Introduction

This Product Bulletin describes the new features introduced in Cisco IOS(TM) software release 12.0(2)XH. It should be used in conjunction with Product Bulletin titled, Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T.

New Features

12.0(2)XH is an Early Deployment (ED) release. This release is focused on delivering new voice features for the Cisco AS5300 to market. Any ED release of software should be utilized first in a test network before being deployed in a production network.

The features delivered with this ED release will be immediately incorporated into the 12.0(5)T release and subsequent 12.0T releases. As such, maintenance for both of these platforms should be obtained from the 12.0T release. For more information about the Cisco IOS software release process, please see Product Bulletin #537.

Detailed Information

12.0(2)XH delivers support for the next generation voice DSP (DSPM-549) on the existing Voice Feature carrier card in the AS5300 platform. This release doubles the number of T1/E1/PRI ports supported, from the previous two T1/E1/PRI limit, to four. In other words, the AS5300 will now support up to 96 voice calls in T1/PRI configurations or up to 120 voice calls in E1/PRI configurations - when configured with AS53-VOXD (T1 549-based) voice cards and 12.0(2)XH or higher. Also delivered is initial support for the G.723.1 and G.729a voice coders, out of band DTMF transport for coders that don't transport DTMF well, and codec negotiation.
