Product Bulletin, No. 1858
End of Sale Announcement for
Cisco 2600 (Non XM) VPN BundlesAugust 12, 2002
End of Sales (EoS) Details
The last day to order the Cisco 2600 VPN Bundles will be October 28, 2002.
The Cisco 2600 (Non XM) VPN Bundles have enabled customers to easily order a Cisco VPN Router with all the necessary chassis, module, software, and memory components at a reduced price compared to ordering each part separately. However, with new Security features and functionality continually being added on the Cisco 2600 Series routers, additional memory capacity for future requirements are required to meet the needs of these services and ensure our customer's success.
In order to meet these requirements, the Cisco 2600XM models are available today, offering more memory capacity to ensure this transition. New XM VPN bundles have been introduced with the Cisco 2600XMs, offering greater functionality and enhancements when compared to the current Cisco 2600 models with similar VPN bundles. This additional functionality with the Cisco 2600XM VPN Bundles is based on the same price of the current Cisco 2600 VPN Bundles.
To ensure continued customer success, this Product Bulletin serves notice that the current Cisco 2600 VPN Bundles will be on EoS status. The following part numbers and EoS schedule are listed below:
Recommended Migration Path
To ensure customer satisfaction and a smooth migration path, the Cisco 2600XM VPN Bundles continue to enable customers to easily order a Cisco 2600 Series VPN Router as before with the current Cisco 2600 VPN Bundles. Designed to support Intranet, Extranet and Remote Access VPN deployments, these Bundles offer both Enterprise and Service Provider managed service customers the ability to deploy proven security features such as Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Firewalls as well as high speed Internet access and the ability to create Extranets or De-Militarized Zones (DMZs). These VPN Bundles are available in a 3DES version, with additional default memory just added (now with 96MB DRAM as the memory default and AIM-EP included in all XM VPN Bundles) to ensure growth for future applications and service enhancements.
