The Cisco ACE GSS (Global Site Selector) 4400 Series, along with Cisco ACE Modules, represents the next generation of application switches and Domain Name System (DNS) appliances. Together these devices form an application-fluent networking solution that maximizes availability, acceleration, and security for data center applications.

The latest model in this series, the Cisco GSS 4492R, part of the Cisco ACE solution, can help you accomplish four primary IT objectives for application delivery:

• Maximize application availability by providing universal, application-fluent business continuance capability. If a network outage occurs, the Cisco GSS 4492R can redirect all networking traffic to a disaster-recovery at a rate of 30,000 clients per second.
• Accelerate application performance with global traffic management. The Cisco GSS Series delivers intelligent distribution of all data center traffic across multiple data centers. The Cisco GSS 4492R can now provide global load balancing to any device that uses common DNS requests for access, and provide load data through an SNMP MIB.
• Secure the data center and critical business applications using acquired technology, the integrated, DNS-focused, distributed-denial-of-service (DDoS) protection software in the Cisco GSS series, combined with the Cisco ACE module, provides powerful security capabilities that effectively protect your mission-critical applications and servers.
• Facilitate data center consolidation by integrating the functions of global server load balancing (GSLB), DNS and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services on a single appliance eliminating or reducing the need for multiple point DNS products.
