These release notes are for the Cisco Application Deployment Engine (ADE) 1010 and 2120 Series appliance. These release notes are updated as needed to describe new features, memory requirements, hardware support, software platform deferrals, and related documents.

Introduction
The Cisco ADE 1010 and 2120 Series appliance is contained in a standard shelf-rack enclosure, the appliance weighs between 15 lb (9.071 kg) and 33 lb (14.96 kg) depending on what options are installed in the appliance. It measures 1.69 inches high x 17 inches wide x 20 inches deep (4.29 cm x 43.18 cm x 50.80 cm). These dimensions do not include the attached handles.
The Cisco ADE 1010 and 2120 Series appliance is configured for AC-input power and has a single auto-ranging AC-input power supply, mounted in a standard 19-inch (48.3 cm) 2- or 4-post equipment rack (using the rack-mount brackets provided), and includes the following features:

Microprocessor:
Cisco ADE 1010 Series Appliance
Intel Celeron D 352 3.2-GHz processor with a 533-MHz front side bus (FSB) and 512 KB of Layer 2 cache
Cisco ADE 2120 Series appliance
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13-GHz processor with an 800-MHz front side bus (FSB) and 2 MB of Layer 2 cache

Four synchronous dynamic RAM (SDRAM) banks or sockets support up to 4 GB (1 GB factory installed)
•
Supports up to 2 x 250-GB SATA hard drives (1 x 250-GB SATA hard drive factory installed)
•
Two fixed RJ-45 10BASE-T/100BASE_TX/1000BASE-T network interface connectors (located on rear panel)
•
One slimline DVD-ROM drive (located on the front panel)
•
One DB-9 serial (console) port (located on the rear panel)
•
Front-to-rear airflow blowers using two 40-mm exhaust fans and ducting
•
Expansion slot support, ADE 2120 Series appliance only (located on the rear panel):

One PCI-X
•
Three USB 2.0 ports (two located on the rear panel, one on the front panel)
•
One PS/2 (keyboard) port (located on the rear panel)
•
One PS/2 (mouse) port (located on the rear panel)
•
One DB-15 serial (video) port (located on the rear panel)
•
Rear-access cabling
•
Four green front-panel chassis LEDs:

Power (indicates whether power supply is operational)
–
Hard disk activity (indicates whether the disk is functioning properly)
–
NIC 1 and NIC 2 activity (indicates whether interrupts or packet transfers are running)

The Cisco ADE 1010 and 2120 Series appliance is normally shipped with:

Rack-mount kit that includes either brackets or rails allowing the Cisco ADE 1010 and 2120 Series appliance to be positioned in a 2- or 4-post equipment rack.

There are no new features supported by the Cisco ADE 1010 and 2120 Series appliance.
Limitations, Restrictions, and Important Notes
The Cisco ADE 1010 and 2120 Series appliance ships with a software package with a customized operating system tailored to the ADE 1010 and 2120 Series appliance. Customer-provided software and operating systems are not supported on these platforms.
